Route 66 has history from the Old West and the move Out West to the freedom to drive the open road in a Classic Car, just gas it up at the Service Station, fill up on a burger at a Diner and go and stay the night in a Motel all just off the Highway.
From Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California, Route 66 led people to new beginnings and others back home to family after the war. Movies and TV Shows were made about this highway that was initially build to join the East-West Highways to Chicago in the north.

Just a little Trivia:
Route 66 is over 2440 miles (4000kms) long and was started in 1926 and final paving completed in 1937.
Crossing 8 states, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California and 3 times zones, even crosses it's self along the way. To this day Route 66 also called "The main street of America" and "Mother Road" is 85% drivable thanks to Route 66 preservation societies. Elvis Stayed at the Best Western Trade Winds in Linton Oklahoma when he travelled Route 66.
Museums in each state will fascinate you with memorabilia of Route 66 history, cars, the peoples of the regions and Souvenir shops. Service Stations, Café's, Diners and a Curios store of yesteryear, many have the original owners and family still giving great service to this day.
