NASCAR Sprint Cup - Nationwide Series - Truck RacingNASCAR racing was born on the back roads of the south during the prohibition years in the USA when alcohol was banned and later run on Daytona Beach. In 1948 the sanctioning body NASCAR was formed to take the racing to the track. The vehicles were straight from the street in design and manufacture unlike today where the sleek technologically advance car only has to resemble the production car type. From humble beginnings at local dirt tracks, NASCAR runs 41 races across the USA each year on Speedways of many sizes and shapes from Bristol, California and Pocono, to Super Speedways like Daytona and Talladega and road courses at Infineon raceway and Watkins Glen International. The intricate NASCAR of today has extreme horsepower, which at some tracks are toned down by restrictor plates, with aerodynamic kits and driver safety paramount, when these monsters of the track bump and grind and spin out through the race. The rolling starts get the adrenaline pumping from the get go or as Daryl Waltrip would say "Boogety - Boogety - Boogety". NASCAR and the drivers alike see fan participation as the key to building the most popular motor sport in the USA and make time for photo and autograph sessions at each event - You can have the chance to meet your favourite NASCAR driver when you go. Generations of families' have raced in NASCAR, famous names like Earnhardt, Petty, Waltrip and Labonte just to name a few and generations of US families follow them. The Nationwide Series and Craftsman Truck Series are just as popular and quite often run prior to the NASCAR, great value for money at any event. Australia now has our own driver to follow in Marcus Ambrose, with a background in the Australian V8 Supercar Series; he is making his presence known both on the track and in the press. It is a learning curve racing in the American NASCAR SPRINT CUP Series and Marcus is a great driver and we are behind him all the way to the top. NASCAR starts the season at Daytona International Speedway with 8 days prior to the big race day with racing, qualifying and the Budweiser Shootout finishing with the Daytona 500, the one event every driver wants to win.
