I.R.L. Indy Car Racing

Indy Racing League started as part of the CART sanctioning body of Open Wheeled Racing in the USA in 1980. 1996 the disagreement over the "Indy Car" name led to the formation of IRL - Indy Racing League and then changing again in 2003 Indy Car Series. The Indy Car Northern Lights Series is the training ground for driver to move on to Indy Car Series with experience.

IRL noted for Honda engines and many chassis manufacturers, normally aspirated fuel-injected engines, running ethanol fuel making racing a low cost alternative unlike CART World Series. In the beginning racing only on Speedway circuits IRL Indy Car Series in 2005 have 3 Road/Street courses to the 17 event calendar across the USA and Japan at Motegi. Teams like Gannasi, Penske and Green returning back from the CART series to Indy Car Series owners and racers continue the family tradition of racing in the USA.
Starting at Homestead - Miami Speedway and finishing in Chicagoland Speedway with the biggest and most famous race of the season the 500-mile " Indianapolis 500 ".
