FORMULA 1 Grand Prix RacingFormula 1 Grand Prix - Before the words Grand Prix were even invented, cars raced in Europe on public roads in the 1890's from one town to another and then further a field. Sometimes they would drive for days at 11mph to get to the finish line not just for hours at over 200mph. 1895 Andre Michelin raced a car with the first "air tyre" and they thought he was crazy. Seems I have heard that name in tyre manufacturing all over the world. In these days tycoons raced cars for pleasure and prowess. In the early history of racing, names like Ferrari, Maserati and Alpha Romeo and drivers like Fangio, Farina, Moss and Parnell were famous and revered. In 1946 the Federation Internationale de l' Automobile (FIA) was formed and introduced rules and regulations for racing. In 1950 the FIA linked racing of each country to make a
World Championship of 7 races and the Indianapolis 500 was one of them.
To go thru the whole history would be over whelming long
to read but it is enough to say the there has been winners of Grand Prix's

and prestigious racing formula in the world.
